The Emperor's New Clothes - Kinera Imperial Baldr 2.0 Unboxing
Summer is coming to an end (was there even a summer?🙄) and manufacturers are releasing a whole lot of new products. Kinera is no exception and gives its flagship in-ear headphones Baldr a new look and doesn't forget the inner values!
But here's the unboxing first:
What's new?
As with the original Baldr, the casing is made of wood and has been given a new visual design. Inside, the tuning has been optimized and the transmission range expanded. The cable is now terminated with a 4.4mm balanced (TRRS) connector, adapters to 2.5 and 3.5mm are included.
What does it sound like?
First listening impressions promise excellent details and very good voice reproduction. It is also noticeable that the bass range has more impact.
A few days of “burn-in” certainly won’t do any harm in order to make more precise statements about the sound.
First conclusion
The Kinera Baldr 2.0 is beautiful to look at (my opinion😉) and excellently made. There are real artists at work here, you can see and feel it.
The sound seems more balanced and "adult" to me than the original Baldr. The relationship is nevertheless unmistakable and both have roughly the same tonality. Instead of doing something completely new, Kinera limited itself to subtle revisions and tuning to make the already very good Baldr even better.
As is typical for Kinera, the accessories are generous but absolutely useful. In addition to a really nice leather case, there are countless different ear tips and two adapters so that you can immediately use the Baldr 2.0 with any common equipment. Chapeau. Many other manufacturers can learn a lesson from this!
Of course, the Kinera Imperial Baldr 2.0 can be borrowed from us and listened to in peace at home.
