Into the Multiverse - UM Multiverse Mentor
It's been a while since an IEM truly gave me goosebumps, but it's finally happening again!
The Unique Melody Multiverse Mentor does what very few other IEMs can do - He impresses from the first note.
But before I go into more detail about the sound, as always a few unboxing impressions...
The Multiverse Mentor comes in a simple but stylish blue box that is not too large. Unique Melody forego the bells and whistles and concentrate on the essentials: the product. This is protected by a generous, high-quality, blue leather case and offers plenty of space for additional accessories.
And here we already have the Multiverse Mentor IEMs in their entirety Magnificent - of course with a high-quality (blue) cable. The cable has the illustrious name "Deep of Universe" and is manufactured specifically for the Multiverse Mentor by PWAudio. The quality of this cable is correspondingly excellent and it fits the IEMs perfectly in terms of appearance AND sound.
It is now clear that the color blue dominates this product. Of course, it's a matter of taste whether you like it or not - I think it looks classy and stylish.
The only exception are the faceplates, which are made from banksia seeds. Banksias (Banksia) are a genus of plants within the silver tree family (Proteaceae). Of the 80 species, only one (Banksia dentata) occurs outside Australia. (Source: wikipedia.com)
The shells are made of carbon fiber and (blue) titanium frames. A lot of noble materials are used here and give the Multiverse Mentor its unique look.
If you look at the faceplates in different lighting conditions, there is a kind of hologram in the dark areas -Effect that gives you the feeling of looking into an unfathomable depth. Hence the name Multiverse Mentor, because with a little imagination you can look into other "universes"...
But that's just my personal theory about naming. 😅
But how does it sound now?
I tested the Multiverse Mentor with the brand new Cayin N7 DAP, because both devices arrived almost at the same time.
What can I say: Even the first bars of the music made me gasp for air and I needed the first break after a few minutes.
Not because it sounded so bad, but quite the opposite: what this combination sent into my ears and my brain was absolutely stunning and, at first, almost too much of a good thing! After a short break, I made a second attempt and involuntarily developed a broad grin combined with goosebumps.
This only happens very rarely to me and it is a sure sign that this is a really special product.
The Multiverse Mentor (MM) goes with verve and fervor that I have never experienced from any other IEM. Everything, really EVERYTHING, is simply big - downright huge!
Stage & Imaging
The MM draws probably the largest and most three-dimensional stage I have ever heard from an IEM . This would make the MM the first in-ear monitor to match and even surpass the legendary OriolusTraillii in this respect.
Details & Treble
But not only the stage is unique, the MM also blows away the details as if there was no tomorrow. And the highs are incredibly airy and transparent, without being in the least strenuous or producing unpleasant hissing sounds.
Mids & Voices
Voices and the mids in general are wonderfully natural and you feel like you're actually standing in front of the artists during live recordings. It couldn't be better! Or maybe?
BASS!!!
Yes! Because I forgot to mention that the Multiverse Mentor produces probably the heaviest, blood-curdling bass I've ever heard from a balanced armature setup! I correct: This is probably the best bass I've ever heard from an in-ear, period.
In conjunction with the Cayin N7, this might be almost too much for some music lovers, because what This combination is not for the faint of heart!
I've heard countless IEMs, DAPs and combos from both over the years and I'm not easily fazed. It happened here, but after a short period of getting used to it, the combo of Multiverse Mentor and N7 really got me hooked!
A customer who heard a number of DAPs and flagship IEMs last week also kept my Multiverse Mentor demo, so I'm left without one for the moment. 😱😣
The withdrawal symptoms are already noticeable and so I have no choice but to order a new MM demo as quickly as possible so that I can enjoy this addictive combination again.
Conclusion: addictive
Finally, all I can say is that the Unique Melody Multiverse Mentor is simply stunning - in the truest sense of the word!
Do you like the feeling of being at a live concert and standing directly in front of the orchestra or band, not only hearing the music but feeling it? Do you want something haunting, intense , sweaty experience? You want to dive into other dimensions?
Great! Then with the Multiverse Mentor you have found the IEM that brings you closest to this feeling.
This is not for music lovers who prefer a relaxed atmosphere, as they would quickly be overwhelmed with the Multiverse Mentor.
The Multiverse Mentor is not an IEM that can or wants to please everyone. He polarizes and you either like him or you don't like him. It is a statement of what is possible today with current technology and great tuning and therefore takes the top place in my personal best list!
So, enough written - I now have to write a new Multiverse Mentor demo very quickly order. 🙌😍
