Hype or bargain? - Eversolo DMP-A6

We have finally received a demo unit of one of our best-selling products. The product has been received by various YouTubers have praised it highly and now we want to see if the praise is justified.

We are talking about EverSolo DMP-A6 Streamer with DAC.

The device's meticulous and high-quality packaging alone builds anticipation. (The black box is additionally protected in outer packaging.)

The DMP-A6 rests securely in foam and is further protected from scratches by a fabric bag. Even the RCA jacks are covered with plastic caps to prevent dust from entering. This kind of effort is usually only seen on much more expensive devices!

Set up

And now it's time to set it up. Select the language, log in to the network, and the Eversolo is ready to use. The whole process took me just a few minutes.

The device offers an optional control app, "EverSolo Control," which can be downloaded directly via a QR code. Since the device doesn't come with a remote control, this is a great feature!

By the way, I decided not to use the app for now to see how the streamer works without a smartphone.

This is the home screen, from which you can access various functions of the device, such as streaming or the advanced setup of the DMP-A6.

Since I wanted to listen to music right away, I tapped on "Streaming," which has various streaming services pre-installed. Since I have a Tidal subscription, I quickly logged in, and voila—everything was where it should be.

First impressions

I've already hinted at it: The DMP-A6 is not only superbly packaged, it's also truly excellently crafted. So good, in fact, that you'd expect a significantly higher price tag.

Usability

What immediately stands out is the easy and quick operation of the DMP-A6.
Everything is easy to read, well structured and logically structured. Scrolling through menus and playlists is so fluid that it's reminiscent of a high-end smartphone.

As a long-time user experience designer, I have a satisfied grin on my face – full marks! 😊🙌

Sound

I didn't have much time to listen to music with the EverSolo, but the short listening session confirms what various customers and reviewers of the DMP-A6 say: It sounds outrageously good for the price.

I'm not saying it makes more expensive DACs obsolete, because that would be an exaggeration. I am saying, however, that the EverSolo rightfully enjoys an excellent reputation in the audiophile community and, even as a pure streamer—connected to a high-end DAC—would still be well worth its price.

As a control center with integrated DAC, the DMP-A6 is a real bargain!

Want an upgrade?

If a friendly customer hadn’t pointed it out to me, I wouldn’t know that it was from DMP-A6 a Master Edition gives.

For a reasonable additional charge, you get a sonically improved device that features femtoclocks and better op-amps.
