A little more: Plussound upgrade cable unboxing
There is another new addition to Audio Essence: Plussound - renowned manufacturer of premium cables. And when I say premium, I mean premium. In terms of workmanship, design, and presentation, there aren't many manufacturers that can compete. And when it comes to cable variety and design options, no one can compete:
Plussound offers virtually every conceivable connection for every product, no matter how exotic. Whether in-ear or headphones, you're sure to find the right connection here.
But that's not all, because there are almost no limits when it comes to designing the cables or adapting them to your own taste. There are literally hundreds of possible combinations!
Let's take a closer look at two of their cables...
All cables come in the same elegant packaging: a small, black, rounded box with gold accents and a gold logo promises equally elegant contents.
After opening it, one thing becomes clear: it can be even more elegant. A message in golden letters on thick acrylic glass greets the new owner and reveals the equally elegant leather bag underneath. And you can even get them with the cheapest cable!
By now it's clear: Plussound means business. No half measures!
In the Finally, the leather case contains the cable: in this case, a Plussound X8 Gold Plated Copper. At the very bottom of the box is a cardboard box containing a leather cable clip and a cleaning cloth: Plussound certainly hasn't skimped on useful accessories!
Here are a few impressions of the two promised cables:
Plussound X8 GPC (Gold Plated Copper)
A real eye-catcher and a bit like jewelry (or earring). The X8 (like most Plussound cables) is available in a variety of materials and alloys. We only have a small selection in our shop, but of course you can order everything the manufacturer offers upon request.
Plussound Echo+ Copper
Things are a little more discreet with the Echo+: A black sheath protects the actual cable and - an additional, special shielding - for the highest audiophile demands.
Of course, you can also "pimp" it to your heart's content, and if it's not "blingy" enough for you, you can choose gold or rose gold colored Y-splits and cable sliders.
Okay, but how does it all sound?
In the following section I will just my own impressions again.
I'm all too aware that the topic of "cable sound" is a sensitive one, and pretty much everyone has their own opinion about it, and that's a good thing!
The great thing is that you are welcome to test the cables (and everything else) extensively at home and form your own opinion.
Personally, I know what's most important to me when it comes to cables: ergonomics, usability, and, of course, aesthetics. They should be flexible, comfortable to wear and handle, and not make any noise. z.B. by rubbing against clothing, etc. And they should visually match the respective in-ear or headphones, that's clear.
And yes, after years of testing, I'm convinced that cables do have an impact on the sound. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It also depends on the other components (headphones, player, etc.).) indicates the extent to which the cable influences the sound (positively or negatively or not at all).
If I didn't have this conviction, Audio Essence simply wouldn't offer upgrade cables!
I am currently mainly working with the new Oriolus Mellianus JP, the "Silver Bird." And this IEM benefits greatly from the "right" cable. So I replaced the already excellent PWAudio "Silver Liar" with the Plussound X8 GPC and Plussound Echo+ – and was a bit shocked! The change in sound was the biggest I've ever personally experienced.
The Mellianus JP is a magnificent reference in-ear with truly uncanny channel and instrument separation, three-dimensional layering, and wonderfully sonorous and haunting vocal reproduction. There's just one thing I, as an old basshead, was missing a little: the basement. The foundation.
The Mellianus JP has bass, and for a pure BA it's really good bass.
No Empire Ears Odin or Legend X Bass, but still...
However, as soon as I connected the PS X8 or Echo+, the "silver bird" sank deeper into the basement, the foundation suddenly appeared, and the entire frequency spectrum benefited. These weren't nuances; this was a change at the component level, like a new player or improved headphones.
I am writing this blog and while I am still listening to the Mellianus JP, the Cayin N6II-Ti And of course, the Plussound Echo+. Somehow, I haven't had the chance to use or test any other products in the last few days—this heavenly combination is just too much fun!
As I said: These are just my personal impressions, and before anyone raises their index finger and protests: You are cordially invited to test it yourself at home!
