"Despite (or because of) its minimal tendency towards a juicy, powerful bass, which is pleasantly balanced by high transparency and clean (treble) reproduction, the Supra Cables Sword Excalibur Rhodium sets standards in its class: namely in terms of musicality, naturalness, and long-term suitability...
The Supra Cables Sword Excalibur is fully suitable for all conceivable music genres."
Supra Cables Sword Excalibur Rhodium: RCA-/ XLR Cables | Test fairaudio
Sword Excalibur
Our ultimate interconnect cable. The success of the Sword Excalibur speaker cable gave us the idea to develop an interconnect cable based on the same patented concept. The cable works as a perfect signal carrier without the side effects of conventional cables, which have serious problems with frequency response and phase shift. Sword maintains signal integrity with almost immeasurable distortion due to our freedom and ability to master the electrophysical layout. The Sword series is hardly beatable regardless of price. The Rhodium edition is available with unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR connectors. How does it sound? The best description is nothing - Supra Sword does not sound at all.
Gold plating is a relatively simple process, while rhodium plating is difficult and costly but also offers better conductive properties. We only sell Sword pre-assembled. The transition between cable and connectors is very critical due to the bifilar wound stranded conductors. To preserve the outstanding cable and contact properties, we have concluded to keep this in-house.
- Transparent - No signal distortion
- Wide frequency response and no phase shift.
- Bifilar wound stranded conductors
- Rhodium-plated XLR connectors
How does it sound?
Supra Sword does not sound at all. Supra Sword transmits the complex music signal from an infinite number of sine waves and an infinite number of levels without any distortion between the output of the source and the input of the receiver. No part of the music suffers delay (phase shift), which is why the timing of individual tones is exactly the same before and after.
If every other hi-fi component in the system is capable of reproducing the timing and preservation of the sound of the recordings just as accurately, the speaker placement and room acoustics are optimal, the result is so lively that you can truly imagine being in the studio with the musicians.
The absence of electrical properties in the Sword ensures complete transparency. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish a transparent cable from a cable with an obvious "sound lift" that emphasizes certain notes. However, you quickly notice this when every album in the music collection has the same sound style and not the unique signature of each album/melody.
Design
The illustration shows the construction of the cable. Each polarity conductor contains twelve individually insulated strands forming two layers. The inner six strands are twisted around an inner core with a high pitch in one direction, the outer six strands in the opposite direction, separated from the inner layer by an extruded insulation layer. This orientation of the strands effectively counteracts all unwanted electrophysical properties, so that all audible frequencies are evenly distributed inside and there is no open window through which harmful noise could enter. The music is passed through sounding exactly the same. That is what characterizes a completely transparent cable.
