The Centauri 1706 is an open-back, over-ear headphone made of solid wood, equipped with a planar driver for highly powerful, well-defined bass and a warm, detailed sound. The features of the Centauri 1706

The Centauri 1706 is the planar model in the Spirit series. The driver system developed to Spirit specifications is equipped on both sides with powerful N52 neodymium magnets to ensure perfectly symmetrical diaphragm movement. This enables performance on par with first-class dynamic systems. The driver's support plate is ultralight yet extremely torsionally rigid, so it does not deform even under high dynamic loads. The frame's high structural rigidity provides a compact, solid unit.

Sonically, the Centauri 1706 stands out with a spacious, realistic soundstage and deep bass that make listening emotional, captivating, and lively. Thanks to its precise tonality, it is equally suitable for demanding studio and mastering applications.

The ergonomic headband with an integrated weight-relief system offers optimal wearing comfort. The detachable cable comes standard with all common connector options and, together with the lightweight driver, enables effortless use with mobile devices. An external Bluetooth module is also available as an option.

The wooden inertia frame

The Centauri 1706 is based on an inertia frame made of solid walnut. The density and rigidity of this material significantly improve the planar technology’s dynamic response. The driver is organically integrated into the wooden housing—a living material that harmonizes perfectly with the drive system. Combined with the ventilated ear-pad system and precisely engineered pressure-equalization openings, this completely eliminates the cavity effect dreaded in magnetostatic headphones.

Ventilated ear-pad system

Manufactured by industry leader Dekoni according to Spirit specifications, the pads are made of fine leather with skin-friendly Alcantara on the contact surface. Instead of conventional ventilation holes, the system uses an outward-facing expansion horn. This enlarges the acoustic chamber and creates an impressive sense of space. Thanks to the magnetic attachment, the pads can be replaced quickly and easily.

The headband system

A stainless-steel band combined with a load-distribution strap ensures perfectly balanced clamping pressure. The integrated sliding system allows the fit to be precisely locked in place. The headband is handcrafted from green leather and a two-tone pressure-relief strap in Neapolitan master workshops.

Cable and Bluetooth connectivity

The detachable cable is manufactured by Portento Audio according to Spirit’s design. Its dual conductor cross-section guarantees maximum signal integrity, even with portable players. For wireless operation, the headphones can be expanded with an external Bluetooth receiver.
