The Oriolus Traillii Ultra IEM System is an integrated in-ear audio system with a digital 3-way crossover and independent 12-channel amplification.
Frequencies are separated in the digital domain and driven by dedicated analog circuits for low, mid, and high frequency bands, minimizing interference between bands and preserving phase integrity.
Instead of aiming for a pronounced character or special emphasis, the system focuses on stable imaging, controlled behavior in the bass range, and a natural balance across the entire spectrum.
It was developed for stationary listening environments and reference purposes, offering a balanced, composed playback suitable for acoustic, classical, jazz, and vocal recordings.
Traillii Ultra stands for a system-oriented approach to in-ear playback, where accuracy and coherence take precedence over spectacle.
Oriolus Traillii Ultra IEM System
A system, not just headphones. The Oriolus Traillii Ultra IEM System views in-ear playback as a complete audio system rather than a collection of individual components. Instead of optimizing the headphones and amplifier separately, the entire playback chain is designed as a single, coherent acoustic instrument.
At the core is a special three-way in-ear monitor combined with the DPA 10 – a specially designed headphone amplifier with a digital 3-way crossover and twelve independent amplifier channels. Together they form a system that operates each driver under precisely controlled conditions, achieving a level of coherence and stability that conventional multi-driver IEMs often struggle to maintain.
Digital 3-way crossover × 12-channel independent drive
First separate. Then drive precisely.
A 32-bit DSP specially for audio performs precise band splitting before amplification, dividing the signal digitally into low, mid, and high frequencies. Each band is then processed by its own analog amplifier circuit, resulting in twelve fully independent channels on the left and right sides.
This architecture significantly reduces interaction between bands while preserving phase integrity. The result is not an exaggerated reproduction but one characterized by: – Clear separation without artificial emphasis – Stable, effortless spatial placement – Deep and controlled low frequencies – Natural, effortless high frequencies Even as musical complexity increases, the soundstage remains clear and comprehensible.
Dedicated Amplifier: DPA 10
Designed not for power, but for control.
The DPA 10 is not a general-purpose headphone amplifier. It was specifically designed for a three-way IEM architecture. Key elements include: – 32-bit digital 3-way crossover processing – Twelve BUF634 buffer stages, one per channel – Op-amp plus buffer topology for consistent stability – Independent gain control for low, mid, and high frequency bands.
Instead of emphasizing pure output power, the design focuses on maintaining predictable electrical behavior for each driver. The sonic result is restrained and deliberate: clearly defined contours, natural dynamic flow, and a lightness that avoids excessive forwardness.
Sound Character
The Traillii Ultra IEM system does not aim to impress through immediacy or sonic exaggeration. – The bass favors control and depth over sheer quantity. – The midrange reproduction is dense, tangible, and grounded. – The highs are open and clear, without harshness. This balance supports longer listening sessions and reveals the musical structure, phrasing, and intent more with clarity than with power.
Purpose and Listener Profile
This system is not designed as an occasional portable solution. It was developed for listeners who value precision and consistency in in-ear monitoring, including: – Dedicated listening at home with a reference DAC – Desktop or stationary systems – Recording and mix evaluation – Classical, jazz, acoustic, and vocal-oriented music For those who want to improve the accuracy of in-ear playback beyond conventional multi-driver designs, Traillii Ultra offers a clearly system-oriented approach.
Design Philosophy
The Traillii Ultra IEM system reflects Raoul Yu-Liang’s over three decades of experience in acoustic design.
The goal was not to achieve immediacy or spectacle, but to align frequency balance, phase behavior, and drive conditions with minimal compromises.
By combining measured performance and critical listening, the system treats the headphone not as an isolated transducer but as part of an integrated signal path. The focus remains on coherence, predictability, and musical integrity.
Summary
The Oriolus Traillii Ultra IEM system redefines what an in-ear monitor can achieve when considered as a complete audio system. Its digital 3-way crossover and independent 12-channel drive architecture serve a single purpose: to reproduce music precisely, stably, and unobtrusively. This product was not developed to impress with effects. It was developed to express music precisely.
Brand History
The Oriolus Traillii Ultra IEM system is based on a simple question: Not how to make headphones sound impressive, but how to treat sound correctly.
Three-way crossovers are nothing new. What is unusual, however, is a design that makes no compromises beyond the crossover frequency point. Through digital frequency separation, independent amplification of each band in the analog domain, and optimization of conditions for each driver, the system’s architecture approaches reference loudspeaker design rather than conventional IEM practice.
"The goal is neither beautification nor showmanship. It is about clarity, structure, and fidelity. The Traillii Ultra IEM system is not a statement for “better sound.” It is a tool to hear more precisely."
