Why linear power matters

A linear power supply operates significantly more quietly than a switching power supply because it does not chop the mains voltage at high frequency in the first place. Switching power supplies are ubiquitous because they are inexpensive to manufacture – not because they are quiet.

A toroidal transformer, precision rectification, generous filtering, and two-stage linear regulation provide power that is as smooth as a perfectly still water surface. This allows your components to reveal, without distortion, what is truly present in the music.

The Crescendo BEAT powers two components in parallel: a 15V output at 2A and a 5V output at 3A – both active simultaneously. Each voltage is fixed rather than variable. A deliberate choice: a rail designed for exactly one voltage delivers it at the highest possible quality.

Dual-regulated – so interference never gets through in the first place

The first stage receives the rectified raw voltage, filters out mains hum and load fluctuations, and passes the cleaned-up rail to the second, particularly low-noise stage for the final refinement. Both stages reinforce each other’s interference rejection. Noise that gets through the first stage is stopped by the second.

Classically built—with absolute conviction

A 70 VA toroidal transformer, Schottky rectification, nearly 18,000 µF of filtering capacitance, and 2-stage linear regulation. No fans, no compromises. The solid aluminum housing remains completely silent and cool during operation.

Integrated protection circuits reliably protect against overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating, and short circuits. A voltage selector on the underside allows the mains voltage to be switched flexibly between 100–127 V and 220–240 V—suitable for any location.

Quiet—and honestly measured

Output noise is a maximum of 10 µVrms with no load and remains at no more than 50 µVrms even under full load—with interference rejection of over 82 dB. We state both values transparently because real audio systems work this way: Your devices demand real power, and the BEAT delivers it effortlessly and quietly.
