The Final DX4000CL is a closed headphone that deliberately frees itself from the sound limitations of classic closed-back designs. The goal of its development was a playback that feels spacious, remains controlled, and is comfortable over long periods – without the typical bass congestion or restricted soundstage of closed designs.
A newly developed internal acoustic and air pressure structure reduces standing air masses inside the housing and prevents the common low-frequency hum of closed constructions. This results in a clean, clearly structured playback with an unusually large sense of air and openness. The sound space feels wide but remains precisely focused. Isolation and bass control are fully maintained.
At the core works a 40 mm paper-carbon composite diaphragm with a free-edge design. It combines low weight with high stiffness and responds quickly to transients. Low frequencies appear powerful but disciplined. Midrange flows calmly and naturally, voices sound full-bodied and firmly anchored. The highs resolve finely without sharpness or fatigue.
A highly pure, silver-plated cable – derived from the flagship series D8000 – contributes to clear imaging and fine texturing of small details. Together with a spiderweb diffuser placed in front of the driver, which controls high-frequency interference, a playback is created that sounds open without losing precision.
The housing itself is glass-fibre reinforced and equipped with internal diffusion rods to specifically reduce resonances. Newly developed ear cushions made from a combination of artificial leather and memory foam ensure reliable sealing and high wearing comfort – also for those who wear glasses. All cushions are fully replaceable.
The concept is rounded off by the discreet SHIBO surface in deep black. Its fine texture symbolises the sound philosophy of the DX4000CL: structured, calm, precise – without visual or sonic showmanship.
The DX4000CL is aimed at listeners who appreciate the spatial freedom of an open headphone but do not want to forgo isolation, control, and everyday suitability.
