The Evo Era offers exceptional sonic flexibility rarely found in a single device: on the converter side, you can seamlessly switch between modern Delta-Sigma chips (dual ES9069Q) and a discrete R-2R resistor network (OS/NOS).

Display & Controls: The front display shows the source, playback status, volume, menu settings, firmware update progress, and system notifications. Four physical buttons enable playback and menu control, while the POWER / HOLD switch controls screen-off, power on/off, and the button lock (HOLD).

Firmware Update: The menu provides an option to update the MCU firmware. Update files, USB drive format, update requirements, procedures, etc. depend on the respective user manual supplied with each firmware version.

CD Ripping: When CD is selected and a compatible USB drive is connected, the Evo Era supports direct CD ripping to the USB drive. Listening can continue during the ripping process while the audio data is read directly from the CD drive and saved as lossless WAV files.

DAC Architecture: A thoughtfully designed dual-decoding architecture combines String R-2R and Delta-Sigma technologies, enabling the Evo Era to integrate two fundamentally different approaches to digital-to-analog conversion on a single platform.

The String R-2R section consists of more than 170 high-precision, low-temperature-coefficient resistors in various specifications. They form a dedicated two-channel decoding network with fully separate power supplies for the left and right channels. Users can also switch between OS and NOS modes, providing additional flexibility for adjusting the digital sound character.

The Delta-Sigma section uses two ES9069 DACs, with each chip operating in MONO mode to achieve fully differential decoding and maximize channel separation and conversion performance.

FPGA: The Evo Era uses an extremely large 100K-LUT FPGA for I2S audio signal processing and precise calibration of the R-2R decoding section.

Headphone Amplifier Modes: Three hardware gain levels (H / M / L), three power levels (TURBO / P+ / P), and selectable CLASS A / CLASS AB operating modes allow the amplifier to be optimally adapted to different headphone loads and listening preferences.

Selectable analog sound signatures: TR / VELVET / LUMINA are three selectable analog sound signature modes. TR is a purely transistor-based mode. VELVET is a hybrid mode with a warmer sound character and fuller midrange. LUMINA is also a hybrid mode, tuned for greater transparency, clarity, and more articulate reproduction. This analog timbre section was adopted directly from the Evo One.

Volume control: The Evo Era combines an ALPS potentiometer with an NJW1195A volume control IC. The potentiometer provides the tactile control feel of a traditional analog knob, while an internal ADC detects its position and electronically controls the NJW1195A. This approach preserves the natural feel of the rotary control, minimizes channel imbalance at very low volumes, and enables highly precise level adjustment.

Analog output logic: The 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm analog outputs feature intelligent connection detection. PO (headphone output) takes priority over LO (line output); when multiple connections are detected simultaneously, the most recently connected output takes priority.

Digital output: Supports digital S/PDIF output via an optical or coaxial connection with automatic output detection. The maximum supported formats are PCM 192 kHz and DSD64.

Power management: The Evo Era supports both battery operation and an external DC input. When a PD-compatible power supply is connected, DC-INPUT mode can be selected in the menu. In this mode, the power supply powers the Evo Era directly while simultaneously charging the battery, and DC-TURBO mode is activated automatically.

The menu also provides settings for automatic shutdown when idle (Idle Shutdown). Detection circuits on the analog outputs can automatically switch off unused analog sections depending on the current operating state, helping extend battery life.
