Concept

Pulse and presence. A transcendent listening experience, staged by IBUKI.

Within the framework of a universal headphone with a detachable cable, we embodied the "highest peak of sound" that Brise Audio envisions.

Our goal was a bass range with a tangible presence, as if air masses were pushing forward. And a delicacy where every single note released into the room emerges gently and pleasantly.

We envision a vivid sound that allows you to listen endlessly to your favorite collection and forget the passage of time.

Combined with the portable headphone amplifier WATATSUMI, it offers the highest peak listening experience.

01 Bass range

LCP dynamic driver - opposing arrangement

The highly praised 8mm LCP diaphragm dynamic driver used in FUGAKU has been updated to version 2. Two units are mounted opposite each other in a gold-plated OFC ring chamber, achieving immersive deep frequencies that are dense without feeling pressured.

02 Mid to high frequencies

Carefully selected BA drivers + EST drivers

A total of five BA units from Knowles and Sonion are integrated via a proprietary crossover. Two EST drivers expand the soundstage and provide airiness in the ultra-high frequency range. By suppressing sibilance, a sound image is created where every single note stands out clearly and distinctly.

03 Housing – Grade 5 titanium

PVD-coated in anthracite

The high-strength Ti-6Al-4V housing prevents resonance-induced sound coloration. The PVD coating protects against scratches and provides a smooth, pleasant-to-touch surface.

04 Acoustic design

3D-printed integrated sound channel - driver holder

The driver outputs are combined through sound channels of different diameters and lengths. This achieves seamless and even sound transmission that does not give the impression of mixed multi-driver playback.

05 Crossover

Highly precise 5-way passive crossover

Built from high-quality components such as thin-film resistor dampers and film capacitors. With stable, temperature-independent properties, it transmits the signal to each driver without coloration.

06 Optimization

Brise Audio's proprietary high-quality sound processing

Original HCNT and special materials for absorbing electromagnetic waves block external noise and interference between the drivers. The sound-absorbing felt material on the back absorbs and dampens internal housing reflections.

The included cable "BSEP for IBUKI" also features high-quality ultimate-class sound processing using the latest materials, including HCNT.

Tribrid configuration with optimally assigned drivers for each frequency range

Ultra-tweeter: EST (electrostatic) ×2

Two electrostatic drivers

Two EST drivers (electrostatic drivers) are used for the ultra-high frequency range. They provide a larger soundstage and more airiness, creating a sound with strong realism.

Unlike MEMS, they do not require a special amplifier, so you can enjoy fine and wide-ranging playback in the ultra-high frequency range even when combined with commercial DAPs and portable amplifiers.

Tweeter: Knowles BA ×2 / Midrange: Knowles BA ×2

Knowles balanced armature driver

To fully reproduce the fine nuances of voices and the harmonic components of instruments, two Knowles BA drivers are provided for both the mid and high frequency ranges.

By utilizing the excellent transient characteristics typical of BA drivers, a balanced sound image is achieved where each note stands out clearly, while suppressing disturbing sounds like sibilance to produce a smooth sound.

For the tweeters, noise reduction was pursued by modifying the configuration from the usual parallel connection of two units as one unit to a series connection.

Lower midrange Sonion BA ×1

Sonion balanced armature driver

To richly reproduce the warmth of voices and the resonant body of instruments, a Sonion BA driver is used in the lower midrange. It provides a smooth transition between frequency ranges and the dynamic driver, delivering the lower mids with natural fullness.

Woofer: 8 mm LCP dynamic driver ×2

Dynamic driver with liquid crystal polymer diaphragm - opposing arrangement

The dynamic driver with an 8 mm liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragm, also used in the FUGAKU and valued for its expressive bass performance, has been updated to version 2, with characteristics adapted to the IBUKI.

The output of unnecessary frequency ranges, which would otherwise be damped by filters and similar means, has been suppressed, improving playback capability in the sub-bass range.

By an opposing arrangement where two units are mounted opposite each other in a gold-plated OFC ring chamber with appropriate softness and vibration damping, the vibrations associated with diaphragm operation of the units cancel each other out, while achieving optimal drive.

This provides springy low frequencies that retain their density while suppressing the feeling of pressure, leading to greater listening enjoyment and immersion in the sound.


Housing

HOUSING - Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5 titanium) + PVD coating

By using Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5 titanium), known for its high strength and hardness, for the housing, sound coloration and unwanted resonances caused by housing vibrations are prevented, resulting in clear, dynamic, precise low frequencies and extended high frequencies.

The surface has been treated with a PVD coating to reduce fine scratches from daily use and improve the skin feel through a smooth texture.

Ear hook construction

The ear hook, made of soft plastic (TPE) containing a stainless steel wire, prevents rotational displacement of the housing caused by the weight of the cable or pulling forces. It also ensures a stable fit even during extended wear. The bending angle can be freely adjusted by hand.

OFC Pentaconn earplug

The OFC version of the Pentaconn earplug from Nippon Dics is used. Its low contact resistance minimizes sound loss, and it features a robust construction that remains resistant to wear even after repeated plugging and unplugging.


Technology - INSIGHT INTO IBUKI

Acoustic design

Speaker driver holder with integrated sound tubes using 3D printing technology

By combining the sound output of the individual drivers through a speaker driver holder with sound tubes of different diameters and lengths, a seamless and even sound transmission was achieved that does not give the impression of a mix of different driver types.

By using 3D printing technology, complex internal structures could be precisely realized that could not be manufactured with high precision using conventional methods involving vinyl tubes and similar materials. The fine shapes of the sound tubes combine the output of each driver at the optimal timing and balance.

Crossover

Highly precise 5-way passive crossover

To adjust the sound pressure balance of the individual drivers while transmitting the signal without distortion, a passive 5-way crossover made from high-quality components was developed.

This includes damping elements with thin-film resistors, characterized by high precision and stability and hardly affected by temperature fluctuations, as well as film capacitors that are sonically neutral and have excellent frequency characteristics.

For the internal wiring of the drivers, original Brise Audio pure silver litz wire is used to minimize loss.

Improvement

Brise Audio’s Proprietary High-Quality Sound Processing

On the surface of each driver and the EST transformer, Brise Audio’s developed HCNT (high-quality CNT) and special materials for electromagnetic wave absorption are used to block external noise and mutual interference between drivers, enabling sound with high spatial separation.

As with the FUGAKU, sound-absorbing felt material is applied to the back of the dynamic driver to absorb and dampen sound emitted from the driver’s rear port and reverberating inside the housing, reducing negative effects on the individual drivers.

Top-Class Cable Specifically Tuned for IBUKI

Based on AKAGANE-35 wire material with a quad-spiral structure and applying a specially tuned, high-quality top-class sound processing for IBUKI, where the shielding layer consists mainly of a combination of multiple materials with HCNT (high-quality CNT), both power and delicacy have been achieved.

Newly developed Grade 64 titanium metal parts are used, matched to the headphone housing, along with special connectors made from a copper alloy developed by Brise Audio.

Genuine Leather Carrying Case

Included is a high-quality genuine leather carrying case worthy of the IBUKI. It is designed so that the cable can be loosely coiled together with the headphones for storage and transport to avoid kinks, and the ultrasuede used inside the lid prevents scratches during transport.
