PP6 Pro & Raptor

– Unique Melody Ultra-Flagship System –

The system

PP6 Pro + Raptor is Unique Melody's ultra-flagship system. Raptor is a ten-driver in-ear monitor based on six different driver technologies. The PP6 Pro is a digital crossover processor in a solid copper housing. Both units are connected by a cable developed exclusively by Brise Audio. Together, the three components form a closed system from which no component can be removed.

Unlike earlier models, the Raptor no longer contains the entire crossover in the earphone. Three frequency bands were moved to and separated in the PP6 Pro before the signal reached the earphone housing.

Origin & Development

As early as 2012, Unique Melody introduced an active flagship IEM system with the first-generation PP6 processor. The earphones themselves contained no crossover; an external DSP amplifier drove six balanced-armature drivers through six independent channels. This was one of the industry's first explorations of active digital DSP crossovers in the in-ear field.

Traditional multi-driver IEMs reach physical limits with passive crossovers: phase shifts, unnatural transitions, and challenges in driving different impedances. PP6 Pro + Raptor takes a different approach: Part of the crossover work is performed digitally in advance with extreme precision.

  • 2019: Official project launch.

  • 2022: First prototype proves the feasibility of the concept.

  • 2023: Tuning in the USA with musicians and audio engineers to perfect dynamics, bass structure, and tonal balance.

  • 2024: First public presentation at a trade show in Singapore, receiving an overwhelming response.

  • End of 2025: Final tuning and completion of the design after six years of development.

Digital crossover

PP6 Pro handles a 3-way split at the digital level. Each band is processed independently and output via two 4.4 mm connectors (fully separate signal paths for left and right), with three signal paths per channel. Four passive networks inside the earphone itself handle the fine division.

Overall, this results in a 7-way system (3 electronic, 4 passive):

  • Independent control: The gain and phase of each band can be adjusted separately.

  • Seamless transitions: Minimized overlap areas without audible breaks between the drivers.

  • Lower coloration: The signal passes through fewer passive components before reaching the driver.

Sound characteristics

  • Bass: Tight, with fast attack and decay. Natural gradation, controlled sub-bass, and powerful, precise upper bass.

  • Midrange: The characteristic UM strength is retained. Vocals are neither too far forward nor too far back; excellent separation and layering even in dense passages.

  • Treble: Balanced, seamless transition, high detail resolution, and plenty of air without harshness during long listening sessions.

The cable

Once the system architecture and sonic direction were largely established, we began searching for a connection capable of transmitting this digital crossover architecture. Six signal paths run through a single cable. The conductor structure, shielding method, and choice of solder—every detail shapes what is ultimately heard.

This is where the collaboration between Unique Melody and Brise Audio began. Both sides discussed the sonic direction, technical approach, and development goals in detail. Drawing on years of experience in high-end cable development, Brise Audio understood the requirements and responded far faster than expected. The very first prototype essentially hit the target. After refining minor details, the second version was finalized directly.

One collaboration. Two prototypes. One precise result.

The speed came from expertise, not haste. The cable is not an accessory—it is an inseparable part of this system.
