Updated flagship portable player
Launched in 2021, the original Shanling M9 player significantly modernizes our Android platform and represents the final chapter for the classic AKM AK4499 flagship DAC.
Today we announce the new Shanling M9 Plus, the long-awaited update of our flagship Android portable player, equipped with the amazing AKM AK4499EX DACs in a special Quad DAC design.
First, the M9 Plus is based on the same Android platform as the original M9, but it benefits from all the improvements that our software team has implemented over the past 20 months of development.

- Overall construction follows the high standards of the M9, with an expertly machined CNC aluminum body, this time shortened by 0.5 cm to make the dimensions even more compact.
- Audio outputs on the M9 Plus have been simplified and now offer our standard combination of 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced outputs.
Improved audio circuitry, new AK Quad DACs
The audio circuitry of the M9 Plus was the biggest question as where should we go now that our AKM AK4499 has been discontinued? There have been countless prototypes with competing DACs, wild wild experiments with less common solutions, but in the end it was the returning AKM that gave us the obvious choice, the new AK4499EX.
This flagship DAC chip proved to be a great performer in the Shanling H7, but that was just the beginning as the M9 Plus pushes its performance much further
in search of Hi-Fi sound .
Shanling's quad-DAC design started with our old-school CD players and was revived last year with the M6 Ultra, but it was the M9 Plus that took it to the extreme.
That's why we crammed FOUR AKM AK4499EX DACs into one portable player, giving us access to an 8-channel audio design for the completely
independent balanced circuit. The quad DAC design offers higher output current and overall improved dynamics, better SNR and lower background noise, with all four DACs optimized for balanced output.
All four DACs are manually tested and paired to ensure ideal matching in the audio circuitry. Alongside the DACs, we're adding two units of AKM AK4191 Delta-Sigma modulators, the crucial partner for the AK4499EX and the extra step that brings this new generation of AKM sound alongside its legacy.
The crystal oscillators have been upgraded to 90.3168MHz / 98.304MHz, the self-developed I/V converter circuit has been adapted for the ADA45253, and the entire DAC section has been given its own independent XC9519 power supply chip.
The amplifier section adopts our proven OP+BUF architecture, now with MUSES 8920 J-FET and BUF634 combination for a smoother and more refined sound, with an improved power supply for increased stability and a total output power of 1120 mW at 32 Ohm.
And of course we use ELNA Silmic II and Panasonic tantalum capacitors, which are so important for the warmer and smoother Shanling's house sound.
