Uncompromising, powerful and precise
The Shogun impresses with an uncompromising blend of power, precision, and craftsmanship. Equipped with an impressive hybrid architecture with 13 drivers, the Shogun offers an unparalleled sound experience.
A dynamic driver delivers deep, controlled bass, while six balanced armature drivers reproduce rich, textured mids and crystal-clear highs with effortless precision. Four electrostatic Sonion drivers, paired with two bone conduction drivers, create an expansive soundstage with breathtaking detail, ensuring every nuance of your music is faithfully reproduced.
The 3D printed resin body with striking red and black stripes, a black metal ring and a carefully crafted Shogun-inspired front panel give this IEM a look as impressive as its performance.
The Shogun is complemented by a high-quality 4-conductor cable that ensures uncompromising signal purity and durability. With the Shogun, every note, every breath, and every beat is transmitted with warrior-like precision—immersing you in the heart of the music.
“Shogun” - The acoustic rebirth of the samurai spirit (or shogunate)
At the site of the Tokugawa Shogunate in Tokyo, we came across an ukiyo-e painting depicting its history. The general in the painting wears "guzuku" armor and has a sharp gaze, like a wise man who tempered the "philosophy of the blunt sword" in the chaotic world of the Warring States period.
This inspired our original vision for the development of “Shogun” – to make the hi-fi headphone a medium through which modern people can experience the spirit of the samurai.
The design of the headphones is based on the "Guzuku" armor and uses high-precision spraying technology to restore the details and texture of the Shogun armor.
The golden "Oni mask" on the front meticulously captures the historical details, while the "Menuki" decorations on both sides recreate the geometric aesthetics of the sword guard, reflecting the mask and forming a visual language of "attack and defense."
The red and silver design of the panel background is based on classic ukiyo-e artistic expression. The acoustic chamber is inspired by the layered structure of the Domaru armor, which achieves independent optimization across multiple frequency bands in a limited space through precise acoustic design.
Tuning inspiration
1.The “multiple narratives” of the mask
Inspired by the multiple narratives of the mask from “The mask is both a tool of intimidation and a barrier to hide one’s true self,” we chose a hybrid driver structure of 1 dynamic, 6 balanced armatures, 4 electrostatic and 2 bone conduction drivers.
- The dynamic driver with a 10 mm composite diaphragm is specialized for ultra-low frequencies and achieves both depth and dynamics through strong magnetic drive.
- 2 Bone Conduction Drivers improve the perception of the sound environment and symbolize the “no blind spot vision” of the Samurai.
- 6 balanced armature drivers cover the mid to high frequency range, with precise reproduction of voices and instruments, sharp as a blade from a sheath.
- 4 electrostatic units deliver the authentic sound of a “hand-forged blade,” where the transient response and depth of detail are fully appreciated, ultimately resulting in a balanced listening experience of “attack and defense.”
2. The “Earth, Water, Fire, Wind” of swordsmithing
- The Low frequency range is grounded in “earth” and uses a composite membrane and a specially designed suspension to achieve “softness with hardness”.
- The middle frequencies flow like “water” and reproduce the subtle details of voices through multi-tube mid-frequency imaging technology.
- The High frequency range is as blazing as “fire” and combines flagship balance fittings and electrostatic units to showcase the metallic luster of the blade reflection.
- The Soundstage is as free as “wind”, with a unique acoustic room design that achieves a “non-stick” mobility between musical instruments.
Tuning orientation
“The sound of the warrior with hardness and softness”
- Low frequency: Moderate but deep immersion, with the drumbeats reverberating like the lingering echoes of a taiko drum, preserving the majestic sweep of the samurai without being overwhelming.
- Medium frequency: The vocal density approaches the realism of real vocal cord vibrations, with imaging as sharp as a blade, but without losing the warm feeling of the tea ceremony.
- High frequency: Expansive and transparent like the shimmer of a sword, yet not overly cold. The synergy between balanced armatures and electrostatic units achieves a level of detail that "cuts iron and leaves a mark."
Listening experience
naturalism
No artificial coloration of the sound is used to preserve the authentic sound of a “hand-forged blade.”
Dynamic contrasts
From the sound of wind chimes to large-scale symphonies, the adaptability of the samurai from “iaijutsu” to “chaotic combat” is demonstrated, as are the diverse identities of the masks on the battlefield and at court.
Philosophy of wearing
The curve of the cavity adapts to the human ear like the “eight aspects” of samurai armor, which balance protection and freedom of movement.
Cable
The cable was specially manufactured to fully exploit the sound quality of the Shogun and consists of a material mix of copper, silver and gold. The design is also based on the design of the Shogun and makes the combination a visual and sonic work of art.
Conclusion
Shogun is not just a headphone, but a contemporary work of art that embodies the spirit of the samurai.
Just like “The Call Of The Cuckoo” before the Battle of Sekigahara by the Shogun, we hope that the extraordinary sound of this masterpiece can bring the weight of history and protect the purity of hearts.
