The Clarinet (Pro) is Dethonray's latest mobile USB DAC & headphone amplifier. On top of the device is the power/volume knob, which turns silky smooth and allows very good volume control. There is also a 3.5mm single-ended output and a 4.4mm balanced output, as well as a coaxial/optical input.
At the bottom of the device are the toggle buttons for high and low gain as well as two separate USB-C ports. These are used respectively for charging and data transfer. The two USB ports are designed to allow charging and data transfer to occur simultaneously, enabling music lovers to enjoy long listening sessions.
In terms of sound, the Clarinet manages to maintain Dethonray's delicate, high-resolution, musical sound while preserving a certain fullness. The Clarinet is equipped with AKM's latest 4493s chip, which offers an excellent level of musicality and detail resolution and delivers a high degree of immersive sound and pure timbre in the digital-to-analog conversion process.
Thanks to Dethonray's exclusive DPPU power supply system (Desktop Plus Power Unit), the digital and analog circuits are isolated from the power supply design, resulting in a darker background and even better highlighting of the music's details.
At the same time, this unique power supply system avoids transitions from low voltage to high voltage and ensures high circuit efficiency. The compact housing of the Clarinet contains a powerful driving force. In high-gain mode, the Clarinet can drive some full-size headphones or planar IEMs that require a certain amount of power in an appropriate way with excellent sound and musicality, and there are hardly any competing products in this price range.
