The Clarinet (Pro) is Dethonray's latest portable USB DAC & headphone amplifier. Located on top of the device is the on/off volume control, which rotates smoothly and provides excellent volume control. There's also a 3.5 mm single-ended output and a 4.4 mm balanced output, as well as a coaxial/optical input.
On the bottom of the device are the high and low gain toggle buttons and two separate USB-C ports. These are used for charging and data transfer, respectively. The two USB ports are designed to allow simultaneous charging and data transfer, allowing music lovers to enjoy long listening sessions.
In terms of sound, the Clarinet manages to retain the delicate, high-resolution, musical sound of Dethonray while maintaining a certain richness. The Clarinet is equipped with AKM's latest 4493s chip, which offers an excellent level of musicality and detail resolution, delivering a high degree of immersive sound and pure timbre in the digital-to-analog conversion process.
Thanks to Dethonray's exclusive DPPU (Desktop Plus Power Unit) power supply system, the digital and analog circuits are isolated from the power supply design, darkening the background and bringing out the details of the music even more.
At the same time, this unique power supply system avoids low-voltage to high-voltage transitions, ensuring high circuit efficiency. The Clarinet's compact housing houses a powerful driver. In high-gain mode, the Clarinet can adequately drive some full-size headphones or planar IEMs that require a certain amount of power, delivering excellent sound and musicality. There are few competitors in this price range.
