The Vortex amplifier is the successor to the RAAL-requisite VM-1a ribbon headphone amplifier with improved features.

Vortex is a direct-drive amplifier for all RAAL ribbon headphones from 1995, such as the SR-1a/b (with built-in equalization), CA-1a, Magna, and Imannis. The amplifier can drive planar/dynamic headphones and loudspeakers.
