Six years later, the legacy of the HA-6A lives on
The HA-6A MK2 is the long-awaited second generation of the popular HA-6A from Cayin. With its innovative dual-chassis architecture, it physically separates the power supply from the amplifier circuit to minimize magnetic interference. Thanks to its fully hand-wired point-to-point construction, the HA-6A MK2 offers pure signal transmission. At the same time, the rich, emotional sound that Cayin is known for is preserved.

"The Cayin HA-6A MKII is a fantastic headphone amplifier. In its stock form, you get a well-balanced and detailed sound with plenty of air and an engaging sound signature that can drive most headphones out there.
The real trick here, though, is the fact that you can tune this amp to your heart’s content with a staggering number of compatible valves to try in different locations (Rectifiers, power, and pre-amp). This is a lot of fun, trying out different valves to figure out which suits your personal preference, although your wallet won’t thank you."

Tube configuration
The heart of the HA-6A MK2 consists of carefully selected and matched vacuum tubes, including:
- 2 × JJ GZ34 / 5AR4 (High-voltage tube rectification)
- 2 × JJ ECC82 / 12AU7 (Voltage amplification stage)
- 2 × Genalex KT88 (Single-ended Class A power amplification)
Each tube was selected for its acoustic properties, stability, and durability. The power tubes operate in a pure single-ended Class A configuration and provide excellent linearity.
The amplifier was specially designed for tube enthusiasts and offers broad compatibility with various tubes – it supports power tubes such as 6550, KT66, KT150, and many more.
Two operating modes: Triode and Ultralinear
To adapt the sound to different music genres and listening preferences, the HA-6A MK2 offers two selectable operating modes:
- Triode Mode (TR): Soft, elegant, and naturally warm. Ideal for vocals, jazz, and acoustic music.
- Ultralinear Mode (UL): Enhanced dynamics, firmer bass, and improved control – suitable for orchestral or film recordings.
Switching is easily accessible on the front panel and allows immediate real-time listening comparisons.
Versatile connectivity with preamplifier function
The HA-6A MK2 features two sets of input connectors:

In addition to its headphone amplifier functions, it has an RCA preamplifier output, allowing it to function as a high-quality tube preamplifier when connected to a separate power amplifier or active speakers.
Dual-chassis design
To maximize performance, the HA-6A MK2 features a separate power supply and amplifier chassis. This architecture minimizes magnetic interference.
- Special EI output transformers and a special toroidal transformer were specially developed for the HA-6A MK2.
- Shielding of internal components and optimized module layout ensure low noise.
Remote control and protection functions
- High-quality aluminum remote control for volume and mute functions included.
