Empyrean is the product of two passionate companies coming together to explore what is possible beyond their individual capabilities. The result is an uncompromising headphone that embodies the bold aesthetics and user-centered design approach of Meze and the expertise of Rinaro in research and development in the field of planar magnetics.
Rinaro, an advanced audio company, has at the heart of its technology a research and development team that has been at the forefront of planar magnet development since the 1980s. What originally began as a government-funded initiative focused on innovation has now opened a new chapter in audio development with the launch of a state-of-the-art industrial facility in Ukraine.

AUDIBLE BENEFITS OF A DUAL-DRIVEN SYSTEM
One of the problems with conventional planar magnetic arrays is that reflected signals enter the ear canal with different time delays, which degrades the focus of 3D sound imaging.
The combination of different voice coil configurations allows for better distribution of sound intensity over the sound wavefront at high frequencies when directed at the ear cup and ear canal.
ISOPLANAR® DIAPHRAGM MATERIAL
The diaphragm is made from a specially developed isotropic, thermally stabilized polymer with a conductive layer. Unique processing methods have achieved an ultralight yet stiff diaphragm.
SWITCHBACK COIL
The switchback coil is more efficient at reproducing low frequencies and is located in the upper part of the driver.
SPIRAL COIL
The spiral coil is more efficient at reproducing mid and high frequencies and is positioned directly above the ear canal, allowing sound waves to enter the ear more directly and without delay.
AN ERGONOMIC APPROACH LEADS TO A NEW WAY OF THINKING
Anatomically shaped, egg-shaped ear cups, anthropometric design of ear pads
To develop an audiophile headphone that is powerful yet lightweight, the driver had to maximize output power while reducing weight as much as possible.
The weight was minimized through an optimized magnet structure with an oval shape that better fits the ear. Power output was increased by using a fully custom coil and magnet array design that optimizes the active driver area within its oval shape.
ISOMAGNETIC® COUPLING TECHNOLOGY BETWEEN EAR CUP AND EAR PAD
An innovative feature is the Isomagnetic® ear cup attachment, which uses the demagnetizing field generated by the driver to hold the ear cup in place while simultaneously directing the magnetic field back into the driver and improving driver efficiency.

The ferromagnetic ear pads reduce the magnetic stray field acting on the listener's head.

Patented ferromagnetic plates direct the magnetic field back into the driver, thus increasing performance.

STRAY FIELD REDUCTION THROUGH ISOMAGNETIC® PLATE COUPLING
Patented ferromagnetic plates channel the demagnetization field back into the driver, increasing efficiency by 1 dB or 12%, and divert 95% of stray fields away from the head.
