Silver Bird: Oriolus Mellianus JP Unboxing

The second high-end in-ear from Oriolus is also your latest product: The Mellianus JP , a reworking of your original Mellianus.

The Mellianus JP can be pre-ordered immediately from and is officially available from September 24th.

It also comes in the same simple cardboard box as the Traillii.

Fortunately, Oriolus are also donating a high-quality VanNuys case to protect the tender bird.

A specially made PWAudio "Silver Liar" is used for the cable. Whether the name now indicates a silver cable or just a silver coating, I can currently only speculate about it! 😅 In any case, the quality is impeccable, as one can expect at the price.

The "Silberpirol" is, like its animal namesake, optically a little more restrained, but appears simple, stylish and noble.

The completely transparent shell allows a view of no less than TEN Balanced Armature drivers - per page! Amazing, because the Mellianus is a rather petite fellow and should therefore fit in every ear without any problems.

Since we're already talking about it: the fit is excellent and the Mallianus JP disappears in the ear, so to speak.

In contrast to the Traillii, I already had the opportunity to hear the Mellianus JP sample. And what impressed me!

The sound of the Mallianus JP is characterized by one thing above all else: serenity and balance. Nothing is exaggerated, nothing is artificially reinforced. And yet the Mellianus JP is not a boring in-ear, on the contrary.

The little bird is incredibly melodic and sensitive to work. It draws the finest details and the "sparkle" at the very top is there - without any sibilance or sharpness. Simply silky soft and airy.

I know very few (if any!) In-Ears who can do it better.
The most impressive thing, however, is an almost unbelievable separation of channels and instruments with almost three-dimensional layering.

That is really great art!

In the basement (bass) the Mellianus JP doesn’t come close to the big Empire Ears models, as pure balanced armature drivers are used here, while Empire Ears relies on its own woofers (DD). Nevertheless, there is enough foundation and pressure to safely carry all other frequencies and - not to be forgotten - to really accelerate if necessary.

My conclusion

I would call myself a "bass head" and yet I miss absolutely nothing when listening to music with the Mellianus JP. Instead I float in the highest spheres of sound and can hardly get tired of this light, airy and wonderfully musical timbre.

For me the Mellianus JP is a big surprise and a hit for many music lovers who just want to relax and listen to music at the highest level. A very clear recommendation!
