Silver Bird: Oriolus Mellianus JP Unboxing
The second high-end in-ear from Oriolus is also your latest product: The Mellianus JP, a revision of her original Mellianus.
The Mellianus JP is available from available for pre-order now and officially available from September 24th.
He also comes first in the same simple cardboard box as the Traillii.
Fortunately, Oriolus also provides a high-quality VanNuys case to protect the delicate bird.
The cable uses a custom-made PWAudio "Silver Liar." Whether the name refers to a silver cable or simply a silver coating, I can only speculate at this point! 😅 In any case, the quality is impeccable, as you would expect for this price.
The "Silver Oriole," like its animal namesake, is visually somewhat more reserved, but appears simple, stylish, and noble.
The completely transparent shell provides a view of no less than TEN Balanced armature drivers – per side! Surprising, considering the Mellianus is a rather petite companion and should fit any ear without any problems.
Speaking of which: The fit is excellent and the Mallianus JP practically disappears in the ear.
And because it was so beautiful, here are a few more impressions of this little gem...
And this is what the silver bird sounds like
Unlike the Traillii, I've already had the opportunity to listen to the Mellianus JP sample. And I was impressed by what it offered!
The sound of the Mallianus JP is characterized by one thing above all: serenity and balance. Nothing is exaggerated, nothing artificially amplified. And yet the Mallianus JP is not a boring in-ear—quite the opposite.
The little bird goes about its work with incredible melodic sensitivity. It captures the finest details, and even the "sparkle" at the top is there—absolutely without any nuance or sharpness. Simply silky smooth and airy.
I know very few (if any!) in-ears that can do this better.
The most impressive thing, however, is the incredible channel and instrument separation with almost three-dimensional layering.
This is truly great art!
In the bass range, the Mellianus JP certainly doesn't come close to the larger Empire Ears models, as they use pure balanced armature drivers, while Empire Ears relies on its own woofers (DD). Nevertheless, there's enough foundation and punch to carry all other frequencies confidently and—not to mention—to really push the envelope when necessary.
My conclusion
I would definitely call myself a "bass head," and yet I don't miss anything when listening to music with the Mellianus JP. Instead, I float in the highest spheres of sound and can hardly get enough of this light, airy, and wonderfully musical timbre.
For me, the Mellianus JP is a great surprise and a real hit for many music lovers who simply want to listen to music in a relaxed manner at the highest level. A definite recommendation!
